DaBoat

In the year 2000, Paddlers Anonymous was founded with one team: DaBoat. Entering 2018, DaBoat will be celebrating its 19th season since inception as a team consisting of paddlers wanting to experience more competitive paddling than a recreational team. DaBoat focuses on training hard, developing technique and teamwork. Building a strong cohesion among its members is a key element to DaBoat. Although we are committed to competitive paddling, DaBoat continues the PA tradition of building lasting bonds between teammates. From social events, eating together after practice, organizing potluck for races and candid photos, it’ll be a memorable summer experience you won’t want to miss!

The goal for this season is to continue to push our limits to improve overall fitness, strength, technique and race times. Pool practices will be for technique development and water practices will be for enhancing and applying our knowledge of paddling and building endurance. We expect our paddlers to maintain their fitness by training outside of normal practices. We will monitor individual performance and progress throughout the season and provide feedback.

Please ensure that there are minimal conflicts with our paddling schedule outlined below, as paddling and training together as a whole is essential to our success. Commitment is very important and we expect our paddlers to make dragon boating a priority when it comes to practices. Paddlers are expected to arrive at practice changed and ready at the designated time. Barring inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, attendance should always be considered mandatory and will affect your chances of being on the boat at races. A warm-up session at Sunnyside Pavilion will take place prior to each water practice.

Dragon boat racing is a team-based sport and we expect our paddlers to be team players and to always arrive with a positive attitude. We foster team building through group-based activities and we encourage participation. We hope to instill motivation through competition. So, if you are seeking to take your paddling skills to an advanced level and looking to improve your strength, endurance and speed, then this is the team for you!

Individuals with at least one year of dragon boat experience are invited to inquire and submit fitness assessment results*. Our season will consist of four regattas: Milton, Hamilon, Ottawa, and GWN Sport.

*Please note as of January 2019 our roster is full.
